The award, funded by Prof. Eliana Minicozzi Musto in memory of Prof. Renato Musto, sponsored by the Rettore of the University of Naples Federico II and by the President of CNR, has seen the participation of young scientists operating in Italy.

In awarding the Prize, the Selection Committee has unanimously decided to give special attention to those candidates who in the course of their training and in the pursuit of their scientific work, have distinguished themselves in studies on Developmental Neurobiology.

In making their evaluation, the Selection Committee has given particular consideration to the originality and independence of the research carried out by the candidates and its possible future developments in the field of Neuroscience.

On September 30th, 2014, the Selection Committee, after having analyzed in detail the published work and curricula of the candidates, has unanimously awarded the prize to Dr. Silvia Bassani, Institute of Neuroscience (IN-CNR) for her seminal contribution to the identification of molecular mechanisms that underlie development of synaptic plasticity and their role in neurological disorders.

The award ceremony will be held in Naples, at the Institute of Genetics and Biophysics “A. Buzzati Traverso”, CNR, Via P. Castellino 111, Naples, Italy, November 21st, 2014 at 4 PM.
